Microsoft officials have announced plans to introduce a new “Front Row” feature for Teams users.
The function aims to create better cohesion between virtual and in-person meetings participants. For the “Front Row” feature, Microsoft has moved the video gallery to the bottom of the screen.
This gives room for face-to-face interaction between the remote participants and those physically present during the meeting. Another capability embedded in the feature allows anyone to see and respond to chat comments during a meeting.
Microsoft pointed out that it is working on extending Front Row with additional features, including a segmented view of the video layout that places all remote participants in a common background. This will make it feel as if they are all in the same room.
Front Row is now available for all Teams Rooms on Windows, with single and dual display modes.
Other future features include the Loop app, which allows teams to replace the raised-hand panel with live note-taking and live-action items.
Microsoft will add positional radio to ensure that the sound comes from the speaker that is closest to where a living or virtual session member is.
