Microsoft launches Games for Work app to boost worker productivity

November 18, 2022

Microsoft has revealed that it has a new solution to certain lax behaviours of workers, as well as a method to make workers more productive. The solution is said to be games, and it is part of its proposal for a digital solution to an analog problem after the pandemic.

Microsoft released the Games for Work app for its Microsoft Teams workplace communications service. Now available in the Teams Apps section, the free app allows users to play one of four multiplayer games with their colleagues during a meeting to help employees build trust, improve collaboration and boost morale.

The games involved were listed as Minesweeper, Solitaire, Wordament and Microsoft’s team-building game IceBreakers on the Teams virtual collaboration platform.

The Teams games are designed for multiple players, with Wordament supporting up to 250. Even those who are not actively playing can participate and interact with the players by calling out answers as if they were watching a game show or helping a friend with a puzzle.
