Microsoft Makes A Slow Return To Physical Retail

June 9, 2021

Microsoft will begin selling products in its “Experience Centers” in London, New York City and Sydney in July, but the global chip shortage will affect what is on sale.

Xbox Series X/S consoles will not be available until supply is sufficient to meet demand.

In addition to Surface devices and Microsoft 365 subscriptions, other Xbox products are also available for purchase.

The tech giant permanently closed its retail stores in the U.S. and around the world last year at the start of the pandemic.

It has placed store employees in sites that help sell, train and support Microsoft’s business customers.

This latest development does not signal Microsoft’s return to retail, as there will be no online ordering or in-store pickup.

The company uses its four Experience Center locations to accommodate business customers, and the ability to buy items is mostly aimed at visitors.
