Microsoft Nuance Purchase Reveals The Next Tech Battleground

While the pandemic helped showcase healthcare’s potential as a growth area for tech companies, the recent Microsoft’s $16 billion deal for Nuance Communications Incorporation shows that the next battleground for technology giants will be in healthcare. According to analysts and healthcare executives, the acquisition will help Microsoft tap into Nuance’s big business selling its software to healthcare systems one of which includes the Speech-recognition software developed by Nuance.

According to Microsoft’s chief executive, Satya Nadella, “This coming together is about empowering healthcare. It’s now very clear that healthcare organizations that accelerate their digital investments can improve patient outcomes and reduce cost at scale”. For some analysts, what the recent deal means is that Microsoft will have the ability to use Nuance as a means to sell healthcare customers its more lucrative product and services one of which includes cloud computing.
