Microsoft recently released its first preview build of the Windows Subsystem for Android, which allows users to run native Android apps in a virtualized environment with sound, graphics and network connectivity.

While Microsoft has teamed up with Amazon to launch 50 curated apps that users can test, it is important to note that the Windows Subsystem for Android is installed from and embedded with the Amazon Appstore app, which means that once Amazon Appstore is installed through the Microsoft Store, the Windows subsystem for Android will also be installed in Windows 11.

As soon as the Amazon Appstore opens, users can install any number of apps that appear in the Start menu after a successful download.

While the first version of the Windows Subsystem for Android comes with limited apps, most of which are games and content for children, non-game apps that are included with the release include Yahoo Mail, United Airlines, Scanner Radio Pro, Comics, Kindle for Android, Alaska Airlines, BBC Sounds, The Washington Post and Flight Tracker24.
