Microsoft To Launch Mute Notification Feature In February

January 12, 2022

Microsoft will introduce a mute notification feature that allows users to turn off notifications during meetings and events.

Starting in February, when the feature will be available, users can switch to go into Global Settings and turn off notifications by clicking on the ellipsis next to the profile picture.

Another way to turn off notifications is via the uBar. This allows users to turn off notifications on a meeting basis.

Microsoft in its original message to Microsoft 365 users noted that the “current experience of receiving notifications during meetings is highly distracting and there is no easy way to turn off these notifications making it highly painful for users.”

The upcoming feature is part of several new features that Microsoft will introduce in 2022.

Microsoft explained the purpose of the feature: “Users will be able to mute notifications during meetings thereby helping focus during meetings. A user can choose to mute notifications for all meetings or per meeting basis.”
