Microsoft recently announced that unsupported PCs will no longer receive Windows updates and that security and driver updates may even be withheld.
The tech giant is urging Windows users to buy a new PC. A few days ago, Microsoft released a statement about a loophole that could appease some of the company’s more vocal customers who don’t want to stop using their old hardware. However, if this loophole hampers Microsoft’s plans, the tech giant reserves the right to make whatever changes are necessary.
If you are unwilling or unable to replace your older than Intel 8th Gen CPU, Windows 11 may spell a return to the days of manually downloading driver updates for all of your hardware.
Feature updates are less of a big deal: If you are the kind of person who would install a Windows 11 ISO on your PC, you can also download and install a newer ISO the next time there is a major Windows update you want.
Microsoft has declined to comment further, suggesting that the tech giant’s threat is genuine.
