June 10, 2022

Microsoft is launching new updates to Windows 11 Notepad and Media Player applications that will be accessible to Windows Insiders.

Notepad versions 11.2204 and higher will offer Native ARM64 support and better performance for all release channels. Insiders will also enjoy additional performance improvements in versions 11.2205 and higher especially when replacing large volumes of text and scrolling very large documents.

The new Media Player version 11.2205 and above adds song and album sorting by date. It will also include performance improvements for users with large media collections.

Microsoft introduced the redesigned Notepad for Windows 11 to all Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel in December and the new Media Player in November.

Users who want to take advantage of the new features of the Notepad and Media Player app will need to sign up for the Windows Insider program. Users who want to provide feedback about the redesigned Notepad and Media Player experience can do so through the Feedback Hub.
