Musk to replace Twitter’s logo with “X”

July 24, 2023

Elon Musk has unveiled a new logo for Twitter, replacing the iconic blue bird with a white “X” on a black background. The new logo was introduced by Musk and Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino in a tweet by Yaccarino saying “X is here! Let’s do this.”

Musk said that the new logo will “embody the imperfections in us all that make us unique.” He also hinted that he may be open to submissions from Twitter users for a new logo design. The move comes as Musk is seeking to overhaul Twitter’s branding and make it more of a “super app” that offers a variety of features, such as direct messaging, payments, and video streaming.

Musk and CEO Linda Yaccarino introduced a new logo for the social media site, replacing the original blue bird emblem with a white “X” on a black backdrop. Yaccarino then tweeted a photo of the logo on the company’s San Francisco headquarters, saying “X is here! Let’s do this.” Musk mentioned that the Twitter brand and the bird logo will eventually be phased out. Both Yaccarino and Musk now use the X logo on their Twitter handles, even though the blue bird logo is still present on the platform.

The new logo is the latest makeover since Musk paid $44 billion for the social networking company last year.
