Musk Urges Twitter To Scrap Deal After Whistleblower Claims

Elon Musk has reiterated his demand to stop the $44 billion Twitter purchase in a letter. This time, the billionaire referenced the latest assertions made by a former Twitter security head of Twitter to walk away from the deal.

Peiter Zatko, Twitter’s former head of security, claimed in a whistleblower claim last week that Twitter had preferred user growth to spam reduction and falsely claiming that it had a robust security plan.

Musk’s legal team cited Zatko’s testimony in an August 29, 2022, letter to Twitter as another reason to revoke the agreement. Musk’s lawyers pointed to Zatko’s claims that Twitter violated its 2011 consent order with the Federal Trade Commission, had serious security flaws and violated intellectual property rights.

The letter alleges that Twitter’s alleged falsehoods to the board and regulators, as well as any other investigations, could have or could have a detrimental impact that would allow it to terminate his contract.

However, Twitter said in a regulatory filing that the new termination notice was invalid under the terms of the contract.
