“Bizarro,” a new banking trojan is currently sweeping Europe and much of South America, attempting to steal financial information and crypto-wallets from consumers.

While banking trojans are seen as a special type of malware used by cybercriminals to steal bank details from unsuspecting customers, Bizarro targets the customers of more than 70 different banks in Italy, France, Spain and Portugal, according to researchers from Kaspersky Labs.

Bizarro also targets other sites by using malicious links in spam emails or through a trojanized app.

Trojans use these methods to implant the malware on a target device, where they install a sophisticated back door that “contains more than 100 commands and allows the attackers to steal online banking account credentials.”
