New Samsung Galaxy S23 is the most sustainable Samsung phone ever

February 2, 2023

With its latest Galaxy S23 and Galaxy Book 3 laptop series, Samsung is stepping up its sustainability efforts. It claims that the new smartphone models are the company’s “most sustainable phones yet.”

The Galaxy S23 smartphone series will have a minimal environmental impact than previous generations because Samsung has used recycled materials in more device components than any other Galaxy smartphone before it. It has also created a packaging box out of 100% recycled paper.

The new Samsung Galaxy S23 phones are UL ECOLOGO certified, according to the company. This certification indicates that a product has a lower environmental impact based on environmental performance criteria applied throughout its life cycle, such as energy reduction, materials, health, the environment, manufacturing, and operations.

In addition, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has 12 internal and external recycled material components, as opposed to six in the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Pre-consumer recycled aluminum and glass, as well as post-consumer recycled plastics sourced from discarded fishing nets, PET bottles, and water barrels, are used in all Galaxy S23 series phones. The phones are also packaged in 100% recycled packaging that has been certified as sustainably sourced.

Samsung also stated that the number of recyclable materials in the Galaxy S23 series has increased, from six internal components made from environmentally friendly materials in the Galaxy S22 Ultra to 12 internal and external components incorporating recycled materials in the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
