One-fifth of global organizations Struggles To Meet Tech Recruitment Needs

July 13, 2022

According to a report by IT talent search and managed services firm Experis, a fifth of companies worldwide are struggling to meet their tech hiring needs.

U.S. employers added 160,000 core technology workers in June, marking the 19th consecutive month of growth for tech worker employment, and job advertisements to fill technology jobs topped 500,000 last month, up 62% year-on-year, according to the CompTIA.

Hiring tech workers is complicated by the “Great Resignation” and low unemployment in the tech professions.

The Great Resignation is the result of tech workers quitting their jobs in large numbers. According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics report, there were 4.3 million resignations in May.

Despite tech workers quitting their jobs, unemployment in the sector remains relatively low. In June, unemployment among tech occupations was 1.8% above the all-time low rate of 1.3% recorded in May 2019.

Organizations are advised to review their recruitment process.

“There are still many employers seeking unobtainable ‘unicorn’ candidates or falling short on basic hiring best practices. It sounds obvious, but the companies that truly embrace hiring best practices and employee experience will be more successful over the longer-term,” said Tim Herbert, Chief Research Officer at CompTIA.
