Oracle and NVIDIA team up to accelerate enterprise AI adoption

October 19, 2022

Oracle and NVIDIA announced a multi-year expansion partnership to help customers address business challenges through accelerated computing and artificial intelligence in Oracle’s cloud.

For years, NVIDIA and Oracle have worked together to deliver accelerated computing instances and software to businesses through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The expanded partnership aims to speed up AI-based innovation across a wide range of industries to better serve customers and support sales by making the full NVIDIA AI platforms available on OCI instances.

The partnership includes processing engines required for every stage of the AI workflow, from data processing and AI model training to simulation and large-scale deployment. This will enable companies to develop predictive models to automate business processes and gain fast business insights.

The collaboration also intends to make an upcoming version of NVIDIA AI Enterprise available on OCI to provide customers with easy access to NVIDIA’s accelerated and secure artificial intelligence development platform as AI and AI models become more complex.

While neither company revealed the cost of the additional hardware or the number of chips sold, they said that the expansion includes Nvidia’s A100 and H100 GPUs (graphics processing units). Although the chips are on China’s export control list, Nvidia factored $400 million in potential sales to China into its profit forecast for the third quarter.

Although there are many AI chip startups competing with Nvidia, Clay Magouyrk, director of OCI, believes the newcomers will struggle.
