Prosecutors charge six with DDoS attacks, seize 48 domain names

December 15, 2022

Six people have been charged by federal prosecutors with operating websites that launched highly effective distributed denial-of-service (DDos) attacks on a variety of victims.

It also seized 48 Internet domains that were selling booter or stresser services, which allow users to launch powerful DDoS attacks designed to take down targets.

The sites that were confiscated advertised themselves as booter or stressor services that tested the capacity and effectiveness of customers’ networks.

However, the websites were actually used to direct vast quantities of junk traffic at third-party websites and Internet connections that customers wanted to disable or strictly limit. Educational institutions, government agencies, gaming platforms, and millions of people were all victims.

Jeremiah Sam Evans Miller of Texas created the booter sites RoyalStresser.com, SecurityTeam.io, Astrostress.com, Booter.sx, Ipstressor.com, and TrueSecurityServices.io. He is currently being sued alongside Angel Manuel Colon Jr., Shamar Shattock, and Cory Anthony Palmer from Florida, as well as John M. Dobbs from Hawaii and Joshua Laing from New York.
