Sites Go Offline After eNom Experiences Problems

January 17, 2022

Customers have lodged several complaints after a data center migration issue from eNom web hosting provider caused sites to go offline.

Although the company said DNS resolution and email services would continue to operate, many customers revealed that they no longer had access to their websites and emails.

Recognizing the problem, eNom noted, “We are receiving some reports of domains using our nameservers which are failing to resolve. Owing to the migration we are unable to research and fully address the issue until the migration is complete. This is not an expected outcome from the migration, and we are working to address it as a priority.”

After examining the issue, eNom found that the domain resolution problems affect several hundred domains.

The company estimates that the outage will last for a few hours. Affected eNom customers cannot change the nameservers because eNom is down. They have to wait until the migration to be complete.

Prior to the incident, the eNom notification indicated that the data center migration would take 12 hours between 6 AM PST and 6 PM PST on Saturday, January 15.

During this process, enom.com and enomcentral.com would not be available, customers would not be able to log into their account through the web interface, and the API would be disabled.
