SMBs Record Slow Tech Progress Even With More Cloud Services

November 17, 2021

86% of companies said they would increase their use of cloud infrastructure solutions in 2021, but this did not take into account the fact that many of these companies continue to struggle with tech expertise.

The respondents were divided into three groups: companies with 500 or more employees, technology-focused SMBs with fewer than 500 employees and traditional SMBs with fewer than 500 employees.

The report showed that traditional small businesses are more preoccupied with costs than any other element of cloud infrastructure, including cybersecurity threats.

The inability to manage IT infrastructure properly makes the problems of traditional SMBs as 43% claim that they do not have full-time technical staff.

For Yancey Spruill, CEO of DigitalOcean, SMBs need a specific type of cloud solution that meets their needs.

He said: “The big public clouds are designed specifically to suit the needs of large enterprises, but traditional SMBs require a different approach — one that’s centered around simplicity, support, and cost-effectiveness.”
