Google fires 100 robots

Google recently laid off 100 robots as part of its 2023 resizing process. These robots worked in the Google X research division on the development of robots for various purposes.

Google has laid off robots for the first time as part of their resizing process. These robots were built to do a variety of tasks, including grasping objects, moving around, and lifting heavy objects.

‘Everyday Robots,’ single-armed robots, cleaned and maintained cafeterias. They were created for consumer applications by Google’s Everyday Robots team. The robots assisted with cleaning, recycling, and being brave enough to open doors for Google employees and visitors on campus.

Google has not specified why these robots were laid off, but it is widely assumed that this was done to reduce costs. However, the company has stated that the robot division remains a top priority for them and that they intend to continue investing in robotics in the future.

They have not only laid off robots but have also laid off human employees as part of their resizing process. Resizing is a common practice used by businesses to optimize their workforce and reduce costs.
