Generative AI to boost global GDP by $1.5T by 2030

According to GitHub, which analyzed data from about 935,000 users of its AI-powered developer tools and services, generative AI has the potential to boost global GDP by more than $1.5 trillion by 2030.

GitHub discovered that AI-powered developer tools can speed up coding and improve accuracy, resulting in increased productivity, as evidenced by GitHub Copilot, which saves developers around 10 hours per week, which could lead to a $1.5 trillion productivity boost by 2030, equivalent to the combined GDP of India and Brazil.

In addition to increasing productivity, generative AI may assist organizations in improving their goods and services, developing new markets, and lowering prices. AI-powered solutions, for example, may be used to develop tailored marketing campaigns, customer support chatbots, and automate jobs like data input and customer care.

In the long run, the actual economic effect of generative AI will be determined by factors such as AI adoption, research and development expenditure, and laws.
