On Thursday, Mercedes-Benz USA said the personal data of nearly 1,000 customers and interested buyers had been accidentally made available on a cloud storage platform.

Data that was provided inadvertently includes the credit card details entered by customers and potential buyers, driving license and social security numbers.

While the company said it was not a product of an attack because none of its systems were compromised and no file was maliciously misused, it promises to offer a free two-year subscription to the credit monitoring service to anyone who had credit card information, a driver’s license number or a social security number leaked.
