Amazon faces questions over development of ChatGPT-style AI technology

Amazon’s ChatGPT-Style AI Technology debut has been postponed, raising worries about its development pace.

Following a test conducted by Coda’s CEO, Amazon’s generative AI tools obtained a “incomplete” score. While the technology is still in its early stages and is based on current services, he is confident in AWS’s capacity to make these AI tools competitive in the future.

According to industry analysts, Amazon’s introduction of the AI tools is a strategic attempt to fight the image that it is slipping behind cloud competitors such as Microsoft and Google. Despite the technology’s present lack of refinement, these competitors have been employing generative AI to improve their product offerings.

Amazon’s generative AI software, according to Matt Wood, Vice President of Product at AWS, is wholly new and not a repackaging of previous technology. He highlighted that the company’s purpose was to notify customers and collect feedback, dismissing suggestions that the release was hurried or incomplete.

However, numerous current and former Amazon employees have noted that the company’s customer-centric strategy often leads to ignoring pure research conducted by competitors. To solve this, Amazon has began collaborating more closely with university academics and allowing its employees to publish academic papers, all while adhering to a “customer-obsessed science” approach.
