#AppleToo Draws Attention To Inequality Within The Company

A number of Apple employees formed the AppleToo organization to expose patterns of racism, sexism, inequity, and abuse within the company.

The group was formed after months of public statements by Apple employees that internal complaints went unanswered or were simply dismissed, and a community of about 200 Apple workers and contractors became the basis for the movement.

According to The Verge, about 15 current and former Apple employees were directly involved in the creation of the group. AppleToo’s website has a short statement and a login with a secret password that can be obtained from AppleToo members.

One Apple employee, Ashley Gjovik, has been very vocal on Twitter about several problems within the company, claiming that a strong cover-up culture within the company led to her eventual administrative leave.

Her story and many other stories from other Apple employees are being compiled for the AppleToo website, and many examples of alleged harassment from inside Apple can be found on Gjovik’s Twitter account.
