A small group of Activision Blizzard workers in Wisconsin voted to form a union, according to the US National Labor Relations Board NLRB.
The group consisted of employees of the quality assurance department at Raven Software in Middleton, Wisconsin. Employees voted 19-3 to join Communications Workers of America (CWA).
The total ballots received were 24 out of 28 eligible voters. Although there were two contested ballots, it was not enough to change the outcome of the vote.
Despite the victory, the union will still have to negotiate and reach an agreement in a contract with the company. According to CWA, the results will not be recertified if Microsoft ultimately takes over Activision.
Wisconsin-based Activision Blizzard employees are calling for a healthier work environment with realistic development timelines, appropriate compensation, and career development.
“We respect and believe in the right of all employees to decide whether or not to support or vote for a union. We believe that will impact the entire Raven Software studio of roughly 350 people should not be made by 19 Raven employees,” Activision revealed in a statement following the vote.
