China EV Maker Nio Suspends Production

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Nio has halted car production to curb the spread of COVID-19.

“Since March, due to reasons to do with the epidemic, the company’s supplier partners in several places including Jilin, Shanghai, and Jiangsu suspended production one after the other and have yet to recover. Due to the impact of this Nio has had to halt car production,” the company said on its mobile app.

After production ceased, the company also said that it would postpone the delivery of electric vehicles to users, and that it would work with suppliers and the Chinese government on further steps.

The leading automakers are currently suspending car production, with many claiming that this will have a negative impact on their targets and revenues for the year.

In China, where thousands of positive cases are reported every day, it is important to take the necessary measures to protect human lives.
