Dish Switches Primary Network From T-Mobile To AT&T

DISH Network recently announced a 10-year partnership with AT&T that will make AT&T the primary network provider for Dish MVNO business.

The latest update came after Dish accused its former partner T-Mobile of anti-competitive behaviour after T-Mobile implemented its plan to shut down its 3G CDMA network earlier than planned.

Dish says its recent partnership with AT&T will speed up the expansion of wireless distribution in rural areas where Dish offers satellite TV service. The company also says that AT&T will help provide transport and roaming services to supports Dish and its future 5G networks.

The deal between AT&T and Dish is non-exclusive meaning Dish can use both T-Mobile and AT&T’s capacity to serve its customers.

But Dish’s move to make AT&T the primary network signals that Dish is trying to minimize its T-Mobile usage.

The contract with T-Mobile runs until 2027.
