EY survey reveals slow tech adoption amongst U.S. corporate executives

According to an EY survey, 59% of 1,001 American employees say their firms’ top leaders in the C-suite and at the vice president level have been hesitant to embrace emerging technology. 89% believe these innovations are advantageous to their organization.

The survey titled EY Emerging Tech at Work 2023 says that 79% of participants are aware with the new technologies that are presently driving digital transformation. However, 48% of the workforce feels that these executives are failing to grasp the benefits that these technologies may provide.

In comparison to 50% of non-managers, 64% of managers agreed that senior leaders had been hesitant to accept innovative technology. Furthermore, 59% of senior executives feel that once innovative technologies are completely embraced, they become obsolete, as opposed to 48% of entry-level workers.

The employees also believe that generative AI, the metaverse, and AI/ML will become prevalent within the next three years because they have the ability to improve efficiency, speed, and productivity at work. Also, quantum computing is seen as the most promising upcoming technology. However, just 32% of those knowledgeable with quantum computing believe it will be extensively deployed over the next three years.
