The global semiconductor shortage is severely impacting automotive production around the world. Recently, Ford announced that some Ford F-150 pickup trucks and Edge crossovers will be built without certain electronic modules due to global semiconductor shortages and a shortage of parts due to a winter storm. Ford also stated that it will build and maintain vehicles for several weeks and then deliver them to dealers once the modules are available and comprehensive controls are completed.

Ford no longer plans to build its vehicles without certain parts. GM also announced earlier this week that certain pickup trucks will be produced without a fuel management module, after both Ford and GM issued guidance that the chip bottleneck will affect their 2021 financial results.
