Google rolls out AI-powered ad tools

Google has rolled out new AI-powered ad tools to help businesses create ads with text, images, and editing.

The tools, which are available to businesses using Google’s Performance Max ad campaign product and Merchant Center Next, can generate ads for search and shopping, as well as update existing visual ads.

Advertisers can use text prompts to iterate on the text and images they generate until they find something they like. Google also promises that no two images will be the same, which can help businesses avoid using the same photo elements as their competitors.

One of the new tools is an advanced image editing solution similar to the Magic Editor feature available on the Google Pixel 8. This tool allows customers to update existing visual ads by retaining a hero asset while making relevant changes. For example, a user could reuse a model with a skincare product but replace the background with a Christmas tree so it’s ready for the holidays.

All AI-generated ad content will be subject to SynthID, a metadata watermark to help detect content that was made with AI.
