Google Rolls Out Latest “Most Intelligent” AI To All Users – For Free

Google has announced the rollout of its latest AI model, Gemini 2.5 Pro (experimental), to all users of the Gemini app, including those on the free tier.

Introduced earlier this week, Gemini 2.5 Pro is described as Google’s “most intelligent AI model,” integrating advanced reasoning capabilities directly into the system. Initially, access was limited to Gemini Advanced subscribers through the $19.99 per month Google One AI Premium plan. However, as of Saturday, Google has expanded access to all users, stating a desire to “get [its] most intelligent model into more people’s hands asap.”

The model is already available on gemini.google.com and will soon be accessible via the Android and iOS apps. Gemini 2.5 Pro (experimental) currently leads the LMArena leaderboard and excels in math and science benchmarks. Google is also working on enhancing its coding performance.

It’s unclear whether the stable version of Gemini 2.5 Pro will remain free upon completion of the experimental phase. Previously, models like 2.0 Flash Thinking and 2.0 Flash were anticipated to be the free offerings.

This move aligns with Google’s recent trend of making more features available to all users, including Deep Research, Gems, Saved Info, document upload/analysis, and generating images of people. Currently, the primary benefits for Advanced subscribers include a 1 million token context window and higher usage limits.
