How Can Companies Curb the Great Resignation

Companies are updating their hiring process as they battle possible departures of workers adamant about a hybrid work model.

Employers have been advised to pursue new strategies, including looking for generalists, not experts. Employers are also advised to look for people who are willing to learn new skills and grow with the organization, rather than looking for the perfect candidate.

Another approach is to use a “build” approach instead of a “buy” approach. While many employees quit their jobs due to a lack of professional development, companies are urged to make internal development programs a central part of the recruitment process.

Other efforts include focusing on three virtues (mastery, autonomy, and purpose) to create professional development opportunities to motivate employees to stay long-term. Finally, employers are encouraged to use new hiring training programs to recruit.
