Microsoft has announced that support for Cortana on Windows will be phased out beginning later this year.
Cortana will no longer be supported as a standalone program on Windows starting in late 2023, according to Microsoft. Users will no longer be able to utilize voice commands by using the Cortana app. Instead, Microsoft encourages users to employ a variety of products to satisfy their productivity requirements.
The decision follows the release of Microsoft’s latest product, Windows Copilot. This tool, which will be located in the taskbar, is intended to have all of the functionality formerly provided by Cortana. It will allow users to alter settings, summarize material, answer queries, edit text, inquire, and update computer settings, among other things.
Microsoft guarantees it will remain available on Outlook mobile, Microsoft Teams mobile, Teams display, and Teams rooms. However, it is unknown how long it will be available on these platforms. To compensate for the disappearance of Cortana, Microsoft recommends utilizing alternatives such as Voice access in Windows 11, the new Bing, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Windows Copilot.
