Slack redesign to be more user-friendly

Slack is undergoing a major redesign to address the challenge of managing its multifaceted features. The new design is designed to be more user-friendly and to help users focus on work.

The impending redesign aims to simplify the user experience. The new interface introduces a Home section familiar to users, displaying channels, direct messages (DMs), and apps. A significant change is the addition of a left sidebar presenting Slack content in new ways. This includes a DMs section resembling common messaging apps and a unified inbox called the Activity window. This inbox consolidates messages, mentions, and reactions from all Slack workspaces. The goal is to provide context and focus, categorizing work modes rather than object types.

Slack is also making it easier to save stuff and to find the features you need. There’s now a dedicated Later menu in the sidebar, and you can quickly save just about anything in Slack to that page and then add a reminder or check it off when you’re finished with it.

The new design also makes it easier to use Slack for video chat and to create new canvases. The Huddles video chat feature is now in the top-right corner of every chat window, right next to a button for creating a new canvas.
