Toyota Set to Launch Automotive Software Platform By 2025

Toyota has announced plans to launch its automotive software platform, called “Arene,” by 2025. Toyota says it will handle advanced operations such as autonomous driving in vehicles and others.

The project will ensure that the operating system is infused in the company’s vehicles with other plans to extend it to its subsidiaries, including Subaru, in the future.

In a less saturated area, Arene’s biggest competitors include German rivals Volkswagen and Daimler. While Volkswagen is already working on its software “VW.OS” Daimler will introduce the ‘Mercedes-Benz Operating System’ in its cars by 2024.

There is currently speculation that Toyota could eventually offer a licensing model for its automotive software platform Arene to ensure that Arene is still available to other automakers interested in electric or self-driving cars.
