The U.S. Department of State announced a program with rewards of up to $10 million to help bring in details that could identify and locate anyone acting on behalf of a foreign government in malicious cyber operations.

It is believed that the financial incentive could be enough to encourage the hackers involved in the process to turn against each other and get a legal payout.

The Rewards for Justice program follows the launch of the website StopRansomware.gov, which will help companies control ransomware threats.

The platform provides information from all federal government agencies and includes the latest resources, updates and alerts.

Ransomware attacks have increased enormously in recent months, targeting critical infrastructures such as JBS Foods, the Colonial pipeline and the latest Kaseya.
