On Thursday, the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee voted in favor of the bill, which requires big tech platforms to choose between operating a platform and competing on it.

The bill, which passed the committee by 21 votes to 30, included four measures aimed at curtailing the powers of some of the most successful companies in the United States.

Other bills approved by the committee include the law that prohibits platforms like Amazon from discriminating against rivals who use their platforms, the bill which requires large technology companies planning mergers to prove their legality rather than require antitrust authorities to prove it, and a law that requires platforms to put in place measures that allow users to move their data elsewhere.
