Windows Needs To Be Online 8 Hours To Successfully Update

According to Microsoft, Windows devices that want to successfully install the latest update must be online for at least 8 hours.

The long hours highlight the reason why many devices are not successfully upgraded and why they remain vulnerable to potential cyberattacks.

To track devices with insufficient Update Connectivity, users are advised to go to Microsoft Intune, where they can navigate to ‘Devices’ and then click ‘Monitor.’ From there, they can select either the ‘Feature update failures’ or the ‘Windows Expedited update failures’ report.

Users can find insufficient Update Connectivity alerts via the ‘Summary’ report in Intune, and click on ‘Reports’ > ‘Windows updates’ > ‘Reports’ > ‘Windows Expedited update’ report.

Based on the findings, Windows 10 devices that do not meet the minimum connectivity requirements include 50% of devices that are not based on a serviced build of Windows 10.
