{"id":10061,"date":"2021-08-09T09:06:49","date_gmt":"2021-08-09T13:06:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.technewsday.com\/?p=10061"},"modified":"2021-08-10T10:35:28","modified_gmt":"2021-08-10T14:35:28","slug":"samsung-trying-to-make-foldable-phones-mainstream","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/technewsday.com\/staging\/samsung-trying-to-make-foldable-phones-mainstream\/","title":{"rendered":"Samsung Trying To Make Foldable Phones Mainstream"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>At Samsung&#8217;s Unpacked event in August, the Korean tech giant is expected to heavily promote foldable phones, which the company will focus on in the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Samsung will have to deliver a refined foldable design, better camera specifications, 5G and affordable prices that are inexpensive compared to other brands of mobile phones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Samsung&#8217;s most recent second-quarter earnings conference call, executives stressed the importance of foldables to the company and the need to heavily promote them to boost sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Research firm Strategy Analytics has forecast that sales of foldable smartphones will rise from less than 1 million units in 2019 to 100 million in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Samsung&#8217;s foldable devices to be commercially successful, either the Galaxy Z Flip 3 or the Galaxy Z Fold 3 or both must be offered at a price of $1,000. At that price, foldable devices will be commercially viable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Galaxy Z Flip 3 may be in the price list, but it&#8217;s unlikely that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 can get there because the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is actually two phones with a hinge.
