{"id":11191,"date":"2021-08-25T11:05:25","date_gmt":"2021-08-25T15:05:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.technewsday.com\/?p=11191"},"modified":"2021-08-26T08:55:06","modified_gmt":"2021-08-26T12:55:06","slug":"samsung-feature-can-remotely-disable-stolen-tvs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/technewsday.com\/staging\/samsung-feature-can-remotely-disable-stolen-tvs\/","title":{"rendered":"Samsung Feature Can Remotely Disable Stolen TVs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Samsung recently announced that its televisions can be remotely disabled if the electronics manufacturer determines that the units have been stolen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The &#8220;Television Block Function,&#8221; was recently activated in South Africa after several Samsung TVs were stolen from a company warehouse during a wave of protests and unrest in July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tech giant says the feature is &#8220;already pre-loaded on all Samsung TV products&#8221; and &#8220;ensures that the television sets may only be used by its owners with a valid proof of purchase.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the TV block function to work, Samsung needs the serial number of the stolen TV.
