Jailed Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny has called Google and Apple’s decision to remove the anti-government tactical voting app from their stores before the incoming elections an act of “cowardice”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He wrote on his social media accounts: “The giants Apple @Apple and Google @Google have complied with the Kremlin’s demands and removed our app from their stores. My beloved YouTube has deleted our video, and the Telegram messenger has blocked our bot. I know that most of those who work at Google, Apple, etc. are honest and good people. I urge them not to put up with the cowardice of their bosses.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports, the tactical voting app, created by Navalny’s allies, makes detailed recommendations on who to vote for as they try to stop President Putin’s United Russia party. A source close to Navalny claimed that Google decided to remove the app after it was told local staffs would risk jail time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
