{"id":12836,"date":"2021-09-28T14:07:37","date_gmt":"2021-09-28T18:07:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.technewsday.com\/?p=12836"},"modified":"2021-09-29T08:50:47","modified_gmt":"2021-09-29T12:50:47","slug":"instagram-for-kids-put-on-hiatus-following-backlash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/technewsday.com\/staging\/instagram-for-kids-put-on-hiatus-following-backlash\/","title":{"rendered":"Instagram For Kids Put On Hiatus Following Backlash"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Facebook announced it will be pausing the Instagram for Kids project amid pressure and leaked internal research by the Wall Street Journal revealing that Instagram was toxic to teenage girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new development, as detailed by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, revealed that Facebook would use the time during the break to listen to &#8220;parents, experts, policymakers and regulators.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the project is currently on hiatus, Instagram will for the time being work on extending its project to new opt-in tools for parental supervision to make Instagram more suitable for 13- to 19-year-olds through the app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mosseri further revealed that he believed it would be better to have a version of Instagram for 10-12 year olds, rather than &#8220;relying on an app&#8217;s ability to verify the age of kids who are too young to has an ID.
