Taiwan has confirmed that chip companies in the country are following’s government export control to Russia, one of the sanctions imposed on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Taiwanese Ministry of Economy, it used the Wassenaar Arrangement to carefully inspect products sent to Russia. Wassenaar Arrangement details export controls on arms and dual-use goods and technologies and was signed by 42 countries in 1996.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Domestic semiconductor manufacturers have also expressed that they will abide by the laws and closely cooperate with government measures,” the Economy Ministry stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Taiwan is not a signatory to the Wassenaar Arrangement, but the move to comply with this rule arose out of its responsibility to comply with the sanctions imposed by the international community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Taiwan is home to the world’s largest contract chipmaker TSMC and is also unlikely to have an impact on the supply of raw materials for chip production as the Russia-Ukrainian war intensifies.<\/p>\n\n\n
