Elon Musk has hinted at the possibility of having a new social media platform.<\/p>\n
This was in response to a Twitter user’s question on whether he would consider building a social media platform.<\/p>\n
The said social media platform will consist of an open-source algorithm and one that would prioritize free speech with minimal propaganda.<\/p>\n
Elon Musk who is a prolific Twitter user pulled up a poll on free speech and its importance to democracy. He went on to ask Twitter users to vote if Twitter rigorously adheres to this principle. A total of 2,035,924 Twitter users took part in the poll and 70.4% picked “No” while 29.6% picked “Yes.”<\/p>\n
Following the poll, Musk tweeted, “given that Twitter serves as the de facto public town square, failing to adhere to free speech principles fundamentally undermines democracy. What should be done?”<\/p>\n
Elon Musk then asked if a new platform is needed. However, many have criticized the call for new platforms that can help push the free speech agenda.<\/p>\n
