According to Asana’s 2022 Anatomy of Work report, notification fatigue caused by the use of multiple apps remain important factors causing productivity decline.<\/p>\n
The report found that nearly two-thirds (63%) of U.S. workers continue to check their emails outside working hours, while 62% feel the need to respond immediately to emails.<\/p>\n
41% of respondents said they spend more time with e-mails, and 34% said they struggle to keep up with important messages, given that workers are overwhelmed by digital activities.<\/p>\n
According to the report, U.S. workers use nine applications a day to get their work done, but respondents said this reduced their productivity.<\/p>\n
21% of respondents said that switching between apps makes them less efficient at their job. 19% said that this reduced attention task and 17% admitted that they work longer because of it.<\/p>\n
Some of the measures organizations can take to address the problem of overwhelming notification include embracing more efficient meetings (52%) and ensuring clearer responsibility (48%) which could help limit the number of notifications.<\/p>\n
