The company called this a \u201cstrategy to build the world\u2019s leading infrastructure technology company.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ar-index=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The current Broadcom Software Group will now be rebranded as VMware and merge Broadcom\u2019s enterprise infrastructure and security products with VMware\u2019s virtualization offering.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ar-index=\"4\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tom Krause, president of the Broadcom Software Group, envisions a strong synergy and little overlap between the two companies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ar-index=\"6\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cVMware\u2019s platform and Broadcom\u2019s infrastructure software solutions address different but important enterprise needs, and the combined company will be able to serve them more effectively and securely. We have deep respect for VMware\u2019s customer focus and innovation track record and look forward to bringing together our two organizations,\u201d he stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ar-index=\"8\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">VMware Chairman of the Board Michael Dell endorsed the deal subject to VMware board approval.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ar-index=\"10\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cTogether with Broadcom, VMware will be even better positioned to deliver valuable, innovative solutions to even more of the world\u2019s largest enterprises,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ar-index=\"12\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Broadcom shareholders will own approximately 88 per cent and current VMware shareholders will own 12 per cent of the merged company.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ar-index=\"14\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The purchase is set to be completed in Broadcom\u2019s fiscal year 2023, but is subject to regulatory approvals and other conditions, including approval by VMware shareholders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ar-index=\"15\">\n<p data-ar-index=\"16\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For more information, read the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itworldcanada.com\/article\/broadcom-acquires-vmware-its-official\/485789\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">original story<\/a> in IT World Canada.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a press release, Broadcom has formally announced its acquisition of VMware valued at US$61 billion in cash and stock.
