{"id":23872,"date":"2022-06-12T05:23:44","date_gmt":"2022-06-12T09:23:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.technewsday.com\/?p=23872"},"modified":"2022-06-12T05:23:44","modified_gmt":"2022-06-12T09:23:44","slug":"sluggish-market-for-pcs-in-2022-flagged-by-amd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/technewsday.com\/staging\/sluggish-market-for-pcs-in-2022-flagged-by-amd\/","title":{"rendered":"Sluggish Market For PCs in 2022 Flagged By AMD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-ar-index=\"0\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lisa Su, Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Micro Devices Inc flagged a slackening in the sale of personal computers (PC) this year after two years of robust growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ar-index=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking at AMD&#8217;s analyst day, Su said that while the downtrend was natural after a considerable period of rapid growth, the high performance and adaptive computing market was &#8220;great&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ar-index=\"4\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Research firm Canalys, reporting a third consecutive quarter of dismal growth in PC shipments, said that the demand for consumer and education PC segments has stagnated due to concerns on market saturation and inflation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ar-index=\"6\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, AMD said on Thursday it has seen a surge in demand for its cloud computing, data center chops, and other spare parts used in artificial intelligence applications.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-ar-index=\"8\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is projecting a gross margin above 57 per cent in the short term and an operating margin somewhere above the 30 per cent.
