Meta was ranked #47 last year, a significant drop from #11 in 2021. Similarly, Apple ranked #56 last year after ranking #31 in 2021.<\/p>\n<p data-ar-index=\"2\">Daniel Zhao, a lead economist at Glassdoor, says Apple and Meta\u2019s absence from this year\u2019s list is \u201cpretty striking.\u201d \u201cApple has been on the list for the last 15 years, since the list\u2019s inception,\u201d Zhao tells CNBC Make It. \u201cAnd then Meta has been on the list since 2011, and it\u2019s actually been number one in the past \u2026 That\u2019s not to say that Meta and Apple are bad places to work, they just have fallen a little bit given how competitive the list is this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-ar-index=\"3\">What\u2019s more, Zhao says that both companies have been \u201cfacing challenges\u201d that could play a role in their nonappearance.<\/p>\n<p data-ar-index=\"4\">Glassdoor analyzed anonymous reviews posted by employees on the platform to compile the list. Between October 19, 2021, and October 17, 2022, they considered &#8220;hundreds of thousands&#8221; of companies with 1,000 or more employees.
