The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will offer a rebate of up to $50 per month for eligible American families and up to $75 for households that qualify for Tribal land under the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Internet rebate, granted under a COVID-19 assistance program, also gives low-income families a $100 discount when they buy a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although the preliminary $3.2 billion aid fund was originally approved by Congress late last year, it took several months for the FCC to complete the process of implementing the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Those eligible for the benefits include Americans who are already eligible for free and reduced-price school enrollment programs, recipients of a government Pell Grant, and people who have suffered significant income losses since the beginning of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eligible Americans can access the funds until the money runs out, or up to six months after the Department of Health announces the end of the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n
