Fitbit, Google, and Samsung have teamed up to create a unified platform and build a new improved version of their Wear OS smartwatch, now called “Wear.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Google and Fitbit, which was recently bought by Google, hope to make the most of the Samsung used software, Tizen, to develop the smartwatch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Samsung says the new version of Wear will be available to users on the next Samsung Galaxy Watch, most likely the Galaxy Watch 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Samsung will also bring its Exynos system chip to the table, meaning Wear OS could break away from Qualcomm’s half-hearted wearables support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As Wear OS does not have an available SoC provider, it could not compete with the Apple Watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But with Google’s help, the new Wear OS watch will have a kind of SoC vendor tied to the platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Google says the new watch will have faster performance, longer battery life, and a thriving developer community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New updates to apps such as Google Maps, YouTube Music, and Google Play will all be available on the watch, according to Google.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fitbit’s collaboration will help bring “the best of Fitbit to Wear.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
