{"id":7633,"date":"2021-06-29T09:35:27","date_gmt":"2021-06-29T13:35:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.technewsday.com\/?p=7633"},"modified":"2021-07-23T14:02:48","modified_gmt":"2021-07-23T18:02:48","slug":"70-of-companies-were-affected-by-the-solarwinds-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/technewsday.com\/staging\/70-of-companies-were-affected-by-the-solarwinds-attack\/","title":{"rendered":"70% Of Companies Were Affected By The SolarWinds Attack"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A survey by IronNet&#8217;s Cybersecurity Impact Report 2021, based on interviews with 473 IT decision-makers from the U.S., U.K. and Singapore, found that 90% of respondents said their security had improved in the last two years, but 86% suffered attacks large enough to require a meeting of corporate C-level executives or boards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The survey also found that 70% of the companies surveyed felt the effects of the SolarWinds attack:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul id=\"block-ed3bb997-359a-4738-9076-d085952d4767\" class=\"block-editor-rich-text__editable block-editor-block-list__block wp-block is-selected rich-text\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"group\" contenteditable=\"true\" spellcheck=\"false\" aria-multiline=\"true\" aria-label=\"Block: List\" data-block=\"ed3bb997-359a-4738-9076-d085952d4767\" data-type=\"core\/list\" data-title=\"List\">\n<li>Significant impact: 31%<\/li>\n<li>Slight impact: 39%<\/li>\n<li>Small impact: 15%<\/li>\n<li>No impact: 15%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<p>The study asked about the financial impact of the attack and found that the average impact was 11% of annual revenue or about $12 million per company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Businesses in the U.S. reported an average impact of 14% on annual revenue, with averages in the U.K. and Singapore of 8.6% and 9.1%, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The survey also revealed that 67% of companies have begun to share information with their technology counterparts, and 50% have begun to share more information with government officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Companies in Singapore were 57% more likely to share information with governments, followed by U.S. firms at 53% and U.K. firms at 43%.
