{"id":8186,"date":"2021-07-12T10:10:23","date_gmt":"2021-07-12T14:10:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.technewsday.com\/?p=8186"},"modified":"2021-07-23T13:46:46","modified_gmt":"2021-07-23T17:46:46","slug":"microsoft-revives-windows-10-start-menu-after-removing-hack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/technewsday.com\/staging\/microsoft-revives-windows-10-start-menu-after-removing-hack\/","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft Revives Windows 10 Start Menu After Removing Hack"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Microsoft deleted a registry hack in the latest preview build allowing Windows 11 users to return to the &#8220;Classic&#8221; Windows 10 Start Menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the Windows 11 preview was leaked in June, a highlight and perhaps most controversial change was a new, floating Start Menu in the middle of the taskbar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This new Start Menu was derived from the now-shelved Windows 10X and includes a redesigned interface with the removal of app groups and Live Tiles.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>To switch to the Windows 10 Start Menu, users can create the &#8216;<strong>Start_ShowClassicMode<\/strong>&#8216; value and set it to <strong>1<\/strong> under the <strong>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\Advanced<\/strong> registry key.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Once users have created the registry value and restarted the Windows Explorer process, the old Start Menu will be displayed again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Microsoft released Windows 11 build 22000.65 to insiders on the &#8216;Dev&#8217; channel.
